ATW Nursery News – 23rd October
This week in Nursery, we have been looking at celebrations. We started the week celebrating Diwali.

This week in Reception, the children have been busy finishing their first topic, ‘Marvellous Me!’.
On Monday, our Year 6 children had an exciting trip to the Natural History Museum in London.
Year 6 Brings Carnival to Life for Black History Month! Last Friday, the corridors of our school pulsed with rhythm, colour, and joy as Year 6 hosted a spectacular Carnival celebration in honour of Black History Month.
Thank you to all of you who were able to join the PTFA for their AGM on the 10th October at the Upper School.
Last week, we celebrated Black History Month, with a key focus on recognising and celebrating the invaluable contributions and achievements of black men and women through history.
Last Monday, Year 1 set off on an exciting walk to Sanderstead Recreation Ground to explore the human and physical features of their local area.
We have been reading the story book ‘Peace at Last’ in Gold Class over the last couple of weeks.
This morning, Jupiter class in Year 6 at EPS presented a fantastic assembly about the suffragettes and how women fought for the right to vote 150 years ago.
This week in Nursery, we have continued the story ‘Peace at last’.
This week it is ‘Black History and Cultural Diversity Week‘ across the Pegasus Academy Trust.
In Reception, we used the book Funnybones during literacy lessons to help develop children’s language and storytelling skills.
Diwali Fun in Little Cypress In Little Cypress, we have been learning about Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Light.
It is Black History Month, and the children have been learning about the importance of celebrating it.
This week, we have had children from Year 1 visiting the park, children from Year 5 visiting the Gurdwara and visits from Transport for London for Year 6.
