Our very own Zara, 3N New Forest, had a bit of a WOW!

Spring has definitely sprung at WHJUN. In the autumn, hundreds of children took part in our annual bulb planting drive, each planting a daffodil or crocus bulb with their class teacher. 

🫶Today, our school family came together in a spirit of love, care, and solidarity to support our Jamaican friends and families who have been affected by Hurricane Melissa.

What an exciting Baking Week we had in Year 2! The Year two children have been very busy baking healthy muffins.

It has been a busy week with children visiting London and the local area, a harvest celebration and parent evenings for all.

We have now finished ‘Owl Babies’ and have moved onto our new story book ‘Peace at Last’ by Jill Murphy.

This week, Reception have started demonstrating their phonics and reading skills through reading practice, and they will take their first reading books home today that they have been practicing in class! 

Today we celebrated all things harvest at Ecclesbourne. Jupiter class started the day with a lovely assembly which taught us about where food comes from and how it travels from where it is grown to where it is sold.

Last week, the children exercised their democratic rights, as part of their British Values, to elect the Captains for their houses: Athens, Corinth, Olympia and Sparta. 

Reception had so much fun learning their new phonemes this week!

This week, children across the school have been reading poems for National Poetry Day, thinking about being kind, visiting Crystal Palace Park and enjoying the ongoing sunshine as well as all the usual learning taking place.

Hello from Cypress! It has been a very busy couple of weeks full of trips, school elections and fundraising. 

In Reception, the children have had a great deal of fun sharing information about themselves and their families. 

To support our learning in geography for this term, we visited our local park, South Norwood Lake! 

What a busy and exciting week we’ve had in Reception! Here is a little glimpse into what we’ve been up to: This week, we have been reading the wonderful story ‘So Much’ by Trish Cooke.

This year, the theme for National Poetry Day was ‘wonder’. We launched the day by watching some inspirational videos of young laureates from all over UK sharing their poems inspired by that theme.

What a fantastic start to the term! Our Reception children have had a brilliant couple of weeks settling into school life, making new friends and getting to grips with our daily rules and routines.

We have had a lovely few weeks settling into nursery. A lot of the focus has been on personal, social and emotional development which has helped the children feel comfortable in their new surroundings, start to make friends and become more independent in their self care.
