📚 A Brilliant Week Celebrating Reading!
Last week, Whitehorse Manor Junior School was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated our love for books. From visiting poets to cosy reading sessions, it was a week to remember.
Special Guest: Adisa the Verbalizer
We kicked things off with a visit from the incredible poet, Adisa the Verbalizer. During our whole-school assembly, he shared powerful poems about standing tall, showing respect and embracing our unique cultures and identities.
Our Year 6 students also took part in specialised workshops, using music and instruments as metaphors to craft their very own poetry.
Community Reading & World Book Day
-
Reading Together: On Tuesday, it was wonderful to welcome parents and carers into school. Seeing children share stories from our “reading spine” with their families was a real highlight.
-
Dress-Up Day: Thursday saw the school transformed! From creative DIY costumes to comfy pajamas, everyone looked ready to dive into a good book.
-
Waterstones Visit: Every class visited Waterstones Croydon to exchange their £1 book tokens. Bunny vs Monkey was the clear fan favorite this year!
