ATW Reception News – Rainbow fish, Poetry day and composition of the numbers 3 and 4
In Reception this week, we have been reading ‘The Rainbow Fish’ by Marcus Pfister.
For those parents who will be applying for a reception place for their child for September 2026 we have arranged a series of visits so that they can look around the schools with senior staff.
If you wish to view a school please see here for the available dates. Obviously we have to limit numbers so only parents/carers who have booked will be able to attend.

Today at school, Yellow Class had a fantastic time learning all about the phoneme ‘k’ for kite.
This week we have been learning the book So Much and practicing counting to five.
In Reception, the children have had a great deal of fun sharing information about themselves and their families.
The Yellow and Red Reception classes have had a fantastic first full week of school!
The new Reception children have settled so quickly and well; we are incredibly proud of them.
The start of the school year at Cypress, has been full of excitement!
On a bright and sunny morning, excitement filled the air as Red Class eagerly boarded the coach, ready for a day of discovery and fun at Godstone Farm.
To celebrate the end of our amazing Reception year, Yellow Class went on a very special trip to Godstone Farm — and what a day it was!
What a lovely week we’ve had in Reception. We are at that time of the year when the children proudly demonstrate all that they have learned during their time with us .
The children in the Gold Class had a lovely time visiting the park and enjoying outdoor learning.
It has been a hot week in Reception but the children have handled it well.
We have had yet another busy week in Reception. The nine partridges that hatched last week got bigger and stronger over the weekend.
What a wonderful morning we had! Our Reception Sports Day was full of smiles, sunshine, and lots of fun!
What a nature-filled week it has been in Reception! Our resident tadpoles have all started to develop into froglets.
