This week, the children have been working incredibly hard, practicing singing the songs for the Reception Christmas concert. They have learned many Makaton signs to accompany the words. I think you will agree that they did an amazing job of performing in front of such a large audience. What a brave bunch of children!
The book that the learning has been based around this week is ‘Granny went to market’. The children took a trip around the world and learned about the various places that Granny had visited. They thought about what was the same in these different places where we live, as well as what was different.
In phonics, the children have been learning words with s /s/ added at the end (hats sits). Also, words ending s /z/ (his) and with s /z/ added at the end (bags). They have learned the final phase two tricky words ‘we’, ‘me’ and ‘be’.
In mathematics, the children have been consolidating their knowledge about counting, cardinality, comparison, and composition of number. They have been demonstrating different knowledge and skills within these areas throughout the week.
