CYP LOWER – Fun and Sun In Little Cypress!
Sun, glorious sun! What a fabulously fun week has flown by in Little Cypress!
For those parents who will be applying for a reception place for their child for September 2026 we have arranged a series of visits so that they can look around the schools with senior staff.
If you wish to view a school please see here for the available dates. Obviously we have to limit numbers so only parents/carers who have booked will be able to attend.

Phonics: Our initial sound in Phonics this week has been ‘f’.
This week, the school rounded off the week in a riot of colour as the children came dressed to impress and celebrate their cultural heritage as part of out International Day fundraising event.
This week in the Reception, we have been reading the book, ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’.
Today in school, Yellow Class had an exciting afternoon playing with water on the field!
At Ecclesbourne today, some of our Year 6 and one of our Year 5 pupils took part in the UK Maths Trust’s Junior Mathematical Challenge.
After the break, Year 2 have been reading Rosie’s Magic Horse by Russell Hoban.
This week we have been using the story of Little Red Riding Hood in our learning.
We are happy to be back and learning at Cypress Upper!
Growing, growing…. All the children seem to have grown in Little Cypress over the Easter break and we are carrying on that theme in class by thinking about how plants grow.
Over the Easter Holidays, the team across Pegasus gave Atwood Nursery a facelift!
What a fantastic first week back after the Easter holidays! The children came back refreshed and ready to learn.

This week marked an exciting start for Yellow Class as we returned from the Easter break diving into our new topic: ‘Traditional Tales’, or better known as ‘Fairy Tales’.
Little Ecclesbourne children spent last term finding out about Spring, by spending lots of time outside observing natural changes and enjoying lots of planting activities.
