What a spectacular start to Science Week 2026 at Beulah Infant and Nursery School! This year, our theme is all about curiosity, encouraging our children to ask big questions about the world around them using our key question words: who, what, where, why, and how. Is there something you have always wanted to know more about?
We kicked off the week with a literal “bang” during our whole-school assembly, where we carried out an exciting reaction experiment! Together, we used our prediction and wonder skills to guess what would happen when we mixed bicarbonate of soda, distilled vinegar, and food colouring. The excitement didn’t stop there; we also placed a hula hoop into a giant bubble mixture with Andrew standing right in the middle. We wondered what would happen and—yes, you guessed it—a massive bubble formed all the way around him!
The scientific discovery continues back in our classrooms. Each class is hosting its own experiment featuring an egg in a pot of vinegar, where the children are using their fantastic oracy and observation skills to predict and track exactly what happens to the egg throughout the week. Alongside our experiments, we also have a special Scientist focus in each class, where we are diving into the lives of famous experts to learn exactly how they became scientists!
We have so much fun-filled science learning lined up, so please keep an eye out for the learning stickers on our jumpers, which encourage us to use our scientific language and vocabulary at home. We are also very excited to share our experiments and learning with you! We are absolutely thrilled to see what the rest of the week brings—we just love working as scientists!
