CYP Lower – Trying to keep cool!
Wow! What a hot few days we’ve had in school. We’ve all tried our best to keep cool, drink lots of water and stick to the shade.
We have some places remaining at our Nursery at Ecclesbourne Primary School in September. Full time and part time places are available. The children in Little Cypress have been observing how the mustard, cress and cat grass seeds that we planted a week ago have been growing.
The three reception classes had a very exciting visit from some exotic minibeasts this week.
We have had a week full of reflection, in particular considering how best to show that you care about others.
At our most recent sporting event, children were exposed to a new format of cricket – Dynamo Cricket.
It’s been amazing to welcome back our children and families after half term.
In Little Cypress we have been learning all about how plants grow, inspired by books such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Jasper’s Beanstalk and Titch.
Our Year 1 classes had a great day today at the Horniman museum.
Our friends at Thornton Heath Nursery School (THNS) are starting a new ‘Stay and Play’ after the half term holiday.
Well done to our Gold Award recipients this half term! We have celebrated two children from each class who have demonstrated that they are a team player, discussing what this means in assembly.
The rain held off for our grand opening of Woodland Library at Cypress Upper on Wednesday.
This half term, Year 3 has had the opportunity to visit the Buddhapadipa temple in Wimbledon as part of our RE topic of Buddhism.
This week in Little Cypress we have been thinking about growing.
In Literacy, the children are currently studying the text ‘Wolf Brother’ by Michelle Paver.
This week we have been thinking about imitation and how we can use this skill to improve our thinking in different subject areas and considering who might be a good choice to imitate.
