About Us

Our Sites

The two sites lie on either side of the very steep Cypress Road. As you come from the bottom of Cypress Road, towards South Norwood Hill, you will see the Lower school site on your right and, further up, the Upper school site on your left.

The Lower school site accommodates “Little Cypress” where we offer education for 2 to 4 year olds. Our community room is also on the Lower school site where, the PTFA hold their meetings as well as various social and fundraising events.

Cypress Primary School is a large, split-site school situated at the northern tip of the London Borough of Croydon.

Little Cypress

Little Cypress is home to our youngest children, aged 2, 3 and 4. It it led by Miss Ailsa Chapman, one of our Deputy Heads of School. Our aim is to offer provision of the highest quality, in a friendly and stimulating environment. The Early Years Foundation Stage are of crucial importance and we take great pride in the start we offer our children in ‘Little Cypress’; giving them a firm foundation on which to build their future learning. We encourage independence and curiosity, within a play-based curriculum, where everyone can succeed.

Our Two Year Offer (2YO), is called Rainbow Class. Children in Rainbow Class are also able to attend our Breakfast and After School Clubs, housed in for this age range the Little Cypress building. The adult/child ratio for Rainbow Class is 1:5.

Our Nursery is divided in to Gold and Silver Classes, for register purposes.  All children are eligible for 15 free hours of nursery education or 30 hours with particular qualifying criteria. The eligibility starts the school term after the child has their third birthday. We  are able to offer both full and part-time places, as well as Breakfast and After School Club. The adult/child ratio for Gold and Silver Classes is 1:13 as there is always a qualified teacher present.

We use prescribed criteria to decide which children can be offered a place in Little Cypress, including priority given to siblings and those eligible for the 2 Year Offer funding of 15 or 30 hours a week of free childcare.

Do come and see us at Little Cypress (the new building that houses the Nursery, Breakfast Club and After School Club) for further details.

We look forward to meeting you and hope to support your child in the first stage of his/her exciting learning journey.
