CYP Lower – Fi Fie Fo Fum….look out Little Cypress, here I come!

This week in Little Cypress we have been thinking about growing. We talked about how we are growing all the time and thought about the things we can do now that we couldn’t do when we were younger. We listened and joined in to different versions of the traditional tale, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and talked about the similarities in the stories, as well as the differences. Some children were so perceptive and noticed that in some versions there is a Giantess and in others there isn’t; in some versions a goose lays the golden eggs and in others a hen does. Well spotted, children! The children enjoyed playing with the Jack and the Beanstalk small world scenario and re-told the story so well, using many of the repeated refrains and fabulous language, remembered from listening to the stories.

Everyone in both Rainbows and Nursery have planted their own runner bean and we are watching them very closely to see when they begin to sprout and turn in to our own beanstalks! After half-term we will be doing more planting, including creating a mustard and cress seed mountain. We are also looking after our Nursery garden by watering it every day. Move over, Alan Titchmarsh!

We have also been doing plenty of writing around Little Cypress and have enjoyed writing our favourite parts of the Jack and the Beanstalk story, as well as writing for different purposes, such as writing shopping lists.

We hope you all have a wonderful half-term break!
