Atwood Early Years Fun Day
Yesterday, the children in our Nursery and Reception classes had a day full of fun.
For those parents who will be applying for a reception place for their child for September 2026 we have arranged a series of visits so that they can look around the schools with senior staff.
If you wish to view a school please see here for the available dates. Obviously we have to limit numbers so only parents/carers who have booked will be able to attend.
Yesterday, the children in our Nursery and Reception classes had a day full of fun.
This half term our topic is ‘Beastly Beasts!’ The children have used information books to learn how to identify different types of minibeasts.
In Reception we have been submerging ourselves in the natural world.
In Nursery we have been learning about space. We read the story Whatever Next!
On Monday five eggs arrived at Atwood’s Reception classes. The children were not told about what was in the egg, but after researching animals that do lay eggs, the children made their prediction of what they thought would hatch out.
This week in Reception our topic book has been ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker.
Over the last few weeks in Nursery, the children have been very busy.
Over the past two weeks, the children in Atwood Reception classes have been looking at the stories ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and ‘the Princess and the Pea’.
This week in Reception the children have enjoyed learning all about the upcoming coronation of our new king, King Charles.
In Nursery, our topic is the current season of spring. We have been reading the book: When will it be spring?
This week in Reception, we have started our new topic entitled ‘Once Upon A Time’.
As part of our learning about people who help us in an emergency, we have been looking at police officers and the role they play in our society.
As part of out ‘To the Rescue!’ topic, we have been focussing on people who recue us when our health is in an emergency.
Today in Early Years we had lots of fun making spring crafts.
This term our topic in Reception is ‘To The Rescue!’. We are looking at all of the ways people help us when we are in emergency situations.
