CYPRESS: Going Green!

Monday 22nd April was Earth Day and the  Eco -Squad had a very important message to share! They led an assembly and encouraged us to think of small things that we can do that can make a big difference to the planet. We remembered the Starfish story from the week before and thought about practical ways to be greener. Recycling, resusing or repurposing old items  and reducing the amount we consume were great suggestions, as well as eating food that has been grown locally and walking or using public transport rather than a car to travel. Thank you to the Eco-Squad for delivering such important messages with such confidence and enthusiasm.

Afterschool Clubs

Activity clubs will restart for the Summer term on the 7th May. Please ensure you have completed the contact details form emailied to you after booking your choice of club.

Year 3 Caveman Experience

Year 3 travelled to Whitehorse Manor on Monday to take part in a Caveman experience. The children looked at beautiful cave paintings that were displayed around a roundhouse tent, and cave people, Twig and Ochre, smoked fish and shared it with the children. For full details please click here.  Special thanks to the Year 3 team who organised and led the trip and to the parents who also accompanied the children. The children came back fizzing with excitement and full of interesting facts about the Stone Age!

Cypress Superstars

Well done to Cillian in Cedar , who wrote a very gripping, descriptive opening to his mystery story based on the class’ book for English, ‘The Mysteries of Harris Burdick’. I want to know what happens next, Cillian! We are very proud of Ashtri and Tamila in Beech who have made amazing gains in their reading – we are so pleased that you are benefitting from all of your hard work and detemination over the past few months! Well done to Betty and Freddie who spoke so confidently about their PSHE lessons in Holly class. It was great to hear about how you stay heathy in body and mind and which communities you are a part of! Palak in Oak, came to the office and impressed me with her fluency, intonation and confidence. She has made amazing progress since she joined us six months ago! Sophia, Shyla, Kian, Phoebe, Cillian and Tyler in Cedar have been writing some very impressive non chronologicla reports on the Stone Age. They were informative and beautifully presented. Great job!

Well done to our Year 6 children who had their last mock SATs practice this week. It was great to see nearly everyone for a calm and relaxing breakfast before the tests and all completed them to the best of their ability. We are very proud of you.

Have a wonderful weekend
