500 words writing competition
Dear Pegasus families, At Pegasus, we love a good story. Here’s the chance for children to write their own stories and enter a national writing competition called 500 words.
We are currently recruiting newly qualified and experienced teachers to join The Pegasus Academy Trust either in April or September 2026. Please email Lynne Sampson one of our Executive Principals on lsampson@pegasusacademytrust.org for an informal chat or a chance to visit.

On Thursday, the boys’ football team at Atwood began their campaign for the season.
The children of Key Stage 1 are back in school! Spotted: classroom bursting back into life, filled with chatter, laughter and just a touch of excitement.
Thank you to our pupils and staff for supporting Jeans for Genes day, we have raised £140!!
We want to say a big welcome to all of our new pupils and their families in our Nursery.
The Yellow and Red Reception classes have had a fantastic first full week of school!
Today we have all arrived at school wearing our best denim attire to raise money for Jeans for Genes.
We have had another fabulous week in Little Cypress! It is as if the children have been here for much longer than they actually have been!
Another fun-filled week in Nursery! We have been reading the book ‘Kindness makes us Strong’ by Sophie Beer.
These past two weeks, we warmly welcomed our new children into Reception, making sure they felt safe and comfortable in their new environment.
We are now well and truly back in to the swing of things at school and the children have been immersing themselves in the new learning in their year groups.
It was a sea of denim at Ecclesbourne today as we wore our best jeans in support of the charity Jeans for Genes.
On Monday we had an assembly to remind us what ‘Jeans for Genes’ day is all about.
What better way to teach the Year 6 science topic of ‘evolution and adaptation’ than by having Ms Whitfield bring in Boyce, her pet tortoise, so that the children could see first hand how well adapted tortoises are.
Today, the staff and children came dressed in as much denim as possible, to raise money for the charity ‘Jeans for Genes’.
