CYP LOWER – Learning and Laughing in Little Cypress

We have had another fabulous week in Little Cypress! It is as if the children have been here for much longer than they actually have been! They are quickly picking up on all of the routines in Nursery and Rainbows and are sitting and listening so beautifully at whole class story and singing times.

Interest wise, we have loved solving the puzzles and investigating all the loose parts on our table-top displays. So many children enjoy browsing books in our book corners and love to get cosy with their friends on the sofas with a blanket, a cuddly toy and a good book. We did some amazing printing repeating patterns with different objects, using the primary colours of red, yellow and blue.

The weather has been mainly favourable this week, so we have been having lots of fun out in our playground, on the patios and in the Adventure Playground. We also enjoyed some wonderful listening game circle times in the Community Room, where we had the opportunity to really focus and listen and respond to instructions.

There was great excitement on Friday as we found a bird’s nest with six perfect little eggs in it. It was nestled in a cosy corner on our patio but we think that the nest may have been abandoned as the nest has been untouched since Miss Chapman first found it on the first day of term and the eggs are very cold. Elsie said: “Maybe the mummy bird got caught by a fox!” and Maddie pondered: “I wonder if there are still babies inside the eggs?”

Friday also saw us marking ‘Jeans for Genes’ where we wore our denim clothing and raised money for this amazing charity. Find out more about ‘Jeans for Genes’ here.

It is so lovely to see the children playing, making friends and settling in to their new environments.

Have a wonderful weekend!
