Cypress Upper: Sports Day 2025!

Last week at Cypress, the sun shone bright and the spirit of friendly competition was even brighter, as we enjoyed not one, but two fantastic Sports Days! Monday saw Years 3 and 4 take to the field, followed by Years 5 and 6 on Friday; all superbly organised by Ms Hassan and Ms Ahmed.

From the very first whistle, it was clear: our athletes were ready to give it their all (and occasionally take a tumble in the process!). The children threw themselves, sometimes quite literally, into a whole host of events including the three-legged race, the javelin throw, and the sack race.

The action continued with sprint races, both short and long, where medals were earned, hearts raced, and determination shone through.

Of course, no Cypress Sports Day would be complete without the grand finale: the tug of war! With sleeves rolled up and feet dug in, each class pulled with all their might, showing grit, teamwork and plenty of heave ho!  Just when the children thought the excitement was over, in came the parents! The mums and dads took to the rope and, for the second year running, mums claimed victory on both days. Go mums!

A huge round of applause to all the children for showing such fantastic sportsmanship and resilience, especially under the warm summer sun. A  special shout-out to goes to Olympia, who were crowned champions of both Sports Days — an impressive double win!

What a brilliant celebration of energy, effort and school spirit. We’re already looking forward to next year!
