We have had a fantastic start to the academic year at Cypress! It has been wonderful seeing all of our new children in Little Cypress and Reception settle into school life and join our school community. We have also warmly welcomed new children and families into other year groups. We’ve had lots of school events such as special assemblies, fundraising days, workshops and trips to name a few. Please keep an eye on the school calendar for diary dates after half term.
Harvest collection
Thank you to all the families who donated to our Harvest collection this year. The donations have been collected by Croydon Nightwatch and very gratefully received.
Life Skills in Year 5
This week Hazel Class had a fantastic time making use of our new Creative Hub. As part of their Life Skills sessions in Enrichment, the children practised their peeling and cutting skills to create their own fruits salads. What a lovely way to spend a Tuesday afternoon!
Early Years Handwashing Workshop
Nursery and Reception welcomed some visitors from the NHS this week who taught them more about the importance of handwashing and hygiene. To find out more click here!

Cypress Superstars
Well done to Makari and Robin in Turquoise Class for their fantastic writing. They skilfully used description and conjunctions to extend their sentences and make their story really exciting for the reader. Nella and Freddie in Yellow Class created beautiful pieces of art, using the initial of their first name. Una in Violet Class has created a very informative booklet all about Henry VIII. Mrs Sorensen loved learning more about Henry VIII and hearing Una read out her facts. Deon in Green Class wrote two brilliant sentences all about the gingerbread man. He carefully used conjunctions to extend his ideas and carefully used his phonics to spell new words. Sully and Manon in Indigo Class shared their family trees, made with such care at home. Marcus in Turquoise Class impressed Mrs Gilbert by reading and following instructions in his Little Wandle reading practice book, ‘How to draw a cat’. Well done to Mason in Holly Class who came to show some excellent sentence writing and letter formation work. Congratulations to Violet in Hawthorn Class who created a wonderful self-portrait in the style of Basquiat. Well done to Otis in Birch Class who shared some wonderful descriptive writing. Congratulations to Araya in Willow Class who shared her brilliant maths work on addition and subtraction and had really challenged herself.
