Beulah – Reading, Reading Everywhere!

At Beulah Infants, reading is always a top priority both in school and at home! This week, we have been celebrating reading by thinking about how we use it in our everyday learning and talking about how reading for pleasure opens a window to the world and imaginary places for us all!

Today, we launched our Playground Lending Library and we really hope that families make good use of this.  Remember when you are choosing a book to borrow, look out for our author of the half term – Michael Rosen!  Please help us to keep this library going by remembering to return the book that you have loaned.  If you have books that are no longer suitable for your child at home , we would be very grateful if you could donate them to the school so that we can build up our stock and offer a wide range of books to borrow.

We brought our reading celebration week to a very exciting close this afternoon when the children met and heard author, Banji Alexander, read his own book ‘Lockdown Looms – Reggie’s Birthday Party’.  Banji told the children how he was inspired to become an author and he reminded them that they could write their own books and become an author, just like him.  The children had some very interesting questions that they wanted to ask him and they kept him busy for some time! We have bought copies for the school and the children will have the opportunity to read the book themselves over the coming weeks.

Thank you to all of our parents that support their children by reading at home every day – it makes a big difference to their progress!   Remember to log on to your child’s Collins eBook and make use of the on-line books in ‘Bug Club’.
