ATW Nursery News – 12th December

What a busy two weeks we’ve had!

Last week saw the beginning of our Christmas festivities as we had our Early Years Christmas making day. It was lovely to see the reception and nursery children so engaged with all the fun Christmas activities. Thank you to all the parents that came to help. If you’d like to read more please see the news post titled “ATW EYFS news – Christmas Making Day 2025“

On Wednesday, Nursery had their Christmas show and what amazing performers they all are! They sang beautifully and even remembered the actions. Well done! An excellent turnout from parents, carers and loved ones. It was lovely to see so many of you stay for our craft & play after – thank you. The children had been busy making biscuits for the parents (and themselves) to enjoy and these went down a treat!

Last week our sound of the week was “p” and our box was overflowing with items that had this initial sound (pens, penguins, pizza, Pom Pom, paper….). This week out sound is “i” and although it’s harder to find items that begin with this sound, the children have been giving it a good go. Some words we came up with were; igloo, invite and iguana. During provision the children have enjoyed playing as elves in santas grotto, some of them decided we need a sleigh for Santa. Watching them work and collaborate together to build this was fantastic. In literacy, we have been reading mouse paint. This books explores colour mixing the primary colours (red, blue, yellow) and nursery enjoyed experimenting with their own colour mixing in the provision this week. In maths, we have been reviewing shapes and our number knowledge up to 3.
