BINF- Catch that story!

It has been a very exciting first two weeks of the Spring term in Gold class. We started our new theme of Traditional Tales with the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man’.  The children have been doing a variety of activities to help them learn the story and we were very pleased to see them retelling the events in their play. The children particularly enjoyed baking their own gingerbread man biscuits, carefully observing how the ingredients changed when they were mixed to form a dough and then using the cutter to shape their biscuits ready for baking in the oven. It was lovely to see their proud faces when they finally held their own gingerbread man biscuit!

In Maths, we have been learning about comparing lengths and positional language. The children enjoyed using positional language when we followed the gingerbread route to describe where the animals in the story were hiding in our garden. After reading The Enormous Turnip we made two lines to pull out the ‘turnips’ and children noticed one line was longer!

We are continuing our Traditional Tales focus with the story of The Three Little Pigs. Perhaps your child can tell you what the pigs said to the wolf.
