Year 5 had a fantastic time on Viking Day, taking part in a wide range of activities that helped them understand more about life in the past. Their day began with an entertaining performance, where the children stepped into character and acted out well-known stories from Viking mythology, learning about the heroes and creatures that shaped Norse beliefs. Afterwards, they tried their hand at making a simple Viking soup, using seasonal ingredients and discovering how the Norse people prepared food without the modern tools we have today. The class also spent time sketching Viking artefacts, looking closely at the patterns, shapes and craftsmanship to understand what these objects might have been used for. It was a memorable day that brought their history topic to life and sparked plenty of curiosity.
