Farewell to Year 6
This week, our Year 6 pupils delivered a truly special Leavers’ Assembly, and what a wonderful occasion it was. With a perfect blend of laughter, reflection, and pride, the assembly showcased the journey our pupils have taken from their very first days in Reception to their final week at primary school. The children spoke with great confidence, sharing memories and amusing anecdotes with in their poems. One of the highlights of the morning was Beech Class’s brilliant rap performance of Stick Man by Julia Donaldson – a lively and spirited rendition that had the whole room smiling. It was a creative nod to their early days in school and we loved it!
The assembly closed with a reflective reading by Ms Wayman, who chose an excerpt from Oh, the Places You’ll Go! by Dr Seuss and Mrs Carpenter spoke about resilience and perseverence. It was a beautiful morning that celebrated both the past and the promise of what is yet to come. You have made us proud Year 6 – you are more than ready for your next chapter!
Welcome to Cypress
We welcome two new teachers to Cypress Lower. Miss Stopher and and Mrs Gilbert will both be teaching in Year 2 and Mrs Butler will be joining the Inclusion Team. We know you will make them feel welcome and part of the Cypress Community.
Cypress Superstars
Well done to Amiyah, who competed in her first local gymnastics competition and received a medal for her efforts – we are incredibly proud of you! It takes real bravery to put yourself out there and compete – amazing job! I am also very proud of you, Neveah, you came to show me your Grade 1 certification in singing, and I was so impressed. I have a feeling your talents will shine next year in the Year 6 performance!
A huge well done to Jocelyn, who came to share the phenomenal story she had written, inspired by The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. It was filled with ambitious vocabulary, excellent speech punctuation, varied sentence structures, and even dialogue in different dialects – what impressive writing!
Finally, we wish all of our children and families a wonderful summer break and look forward to welcoming you back to Cypress in September.
