This week, Year 2 took part in a focused and engaging financial literacy workshop. For the past three years, we have proudly worked with the charity Red Start (now a part of Money Ready) to support this important learning. As the cost of living has become part of every day adult vocabulary, it is essential that our Key Stage 1 children begin to develop an age-appropriate understanding of money. The children explored what we can do with money, learning about saving and spending through carefully planned child-friendly activities. Using a £20 budget, they were tasked with equipping a superhero with clothes, tools and special powers. 5 minutes into the activity, the children discovered that Batman was a billionaire for a reason😂.
While some children quickly went bankrupt, others proved impressively frugal. Yunus concluded, “If you don’t save money, you will not have much.”
