ATW Reception News – Exploring the past with ‘Peepo’.

The children used the classic book ‘Peepo’ by Janet and Allan Ahlberg to explore how life has changed since the 1940s. They spotted differences in everyday items, such as tin baths and coal sheds.
Sharing baby photographs inspired the children to discuss their own personal histories. They compared how they looked as babies to how they look now, celebrating the many new things they can do, like walking and talking.
Children’s Mental Health Week
The children focused on the importance of a sense of belonging for their well-being. Throughout the week, they:
  • Practised inviting others to play to build connections.
  • Celebrated acts of kindness across the class.
  • Talked about emotions, learning that it is okay to feel many different things.
Safer Internet Day
On Tuesday, the children learned about Artificial Intelligence (AI). They explored how voice assistants, like Alexa, are helpful tools but are not real people.
Gymnastics & Phonics
  • PE: The children celebrated their hard work on gymnastics holds with some energetic parachute games.
  • Phonics: The children recapped some tricky GPCs, focusing on the trigraphs and digraphs ‘air’‘ear’‘ar’, and ‘ur’.
