CYP: Welcome to our Marvellous Museum!

At the Lower School we learnt about joy this week in assembly.  We have thought about what brings us joy and makes us feel happy and how important it is to look for joy in our every day lives to boost our well-being.  It’s been lovely hearing children share what brings them joy!  We’ve all had great fun this week preparing for Museum Day and everyone’s been very excited to share their learning.

At the Upper School this week we have been focusing on showing pride in our achievements.  We have been thinking about how we often celebrate our big achievements but sometimes forget to recognise the smaller ones.  This week, we are focusing on one thing each day that we feel of proud of.  All the classes have also worked very hard turning the school in to a museum.

Cypress Museum Day

Today we invited parents and carers into school for the annual Cypress Museum Day!

At the Lower School we were astounded by the amount of parents and carers who came to visit our museums!  The whole school looked incredible and children were so proud to show off their hard work and creativity.  Many of our children (and staff!) dressed up and looked fantastic in their costumes.  Little Cypress filled the hall with their beautiful work on Love and Chinese New Year.  We had Chinese lanterns, dragons and painted blossom trees, clay hearts and a wonderful display of photos where children shared what they love the most.  Turn a corner in the school hall and you were faced with terrifying Monsters, dinosaurs and Gruffalos from Reception.  Each child had created their very own scary monster and Reception had a wonderful display of giant monsters, Gruffalo art work, ‘wanted’ monster posters and carefully sculpted plasticine dinosaurs.  In our Year 1 classrooms, everyone was having fun and games based on the children’s learning about Toys.  The classroom museums showcased amazing toy creations such as rockets, planes, robots, dolls’ houses and cup and ball toys plus some very creative art work.  In Year 2 our classrooms were transformed into museums showcasing the children’s learning on Tudors and The Great Fire of London.  Children have worked hard to create their own Tudor portraits, construct Tudor style houses and have enjoyed spending the morning writing in quills using ink, creating their very own peg dolls and Tudor roses.  We were particularly impressed with the children’s fantastic Fire of London scenes created using watercolours and charcoal.  Well done to everyone for their hard work and creativity and a special thank you to our dedicated staff team for showcasing the children’s hard work so magnificently.

At the Upper School,  Year 3 had transformed Juniper room and the area outside their classrooms into their own version of The Great ExhibitionThe children have built their own bridges and are now busy testing the stability of these structures.  In Year 4, the children displayed their learning based on the topic When In Rome .  The Year 4 corridor was filled with volcanoes, Roman shields, purses and wonderful examples of home learning. In the classrooms, the children were having a wonderful time creating their own Roman mosaics.  In Year 5, we found out about their learning in the topic The Vikings are Coming!  In this zone, we saw examples of longboats, shields and clay dragon heads.  Finally in Year 6, we learnt about the Egyptians through their topic Walk Like An Egyptian!  We saw magnificent death masks, canopic jars, interactive maps and landscape paintings.  Thank you to all our children for the pride and dedication you have shown in your learning.  To all our staff, a huge thank you for the time and effort you have put in to create such a memorable day for the children.

Polite reminder – phones and snacks

For safeguarding reasons, please refrain from using your phone on school premises.  Greet your child with a smile, not a mobile!  We would appreciate your support with keeping Cypress litter-free so please avoid giving children after school snacks until you’ve left the school site and ensure you take any rubbish home with you.
