This week we have been focusing on caring for others at the Lower School. We have been learning about the role of Macmillan Cancer. We now know that the charity was formed by Douglas Macmillan who wanted to help people after his father died from cancer in 1911. Since then, this charity has helped millions of people affected by cancer. We have also been considering how we show ‘We Care’ through the way we treat others around us.
At the Upper School, we have been thinking about how to keep ourselves and each other safe. In assembly and in our clasrooms we have been talking about what to do if we are worried. We know that it is important to remember that we shouldn’t to keep it to ourselves. We can always talk to an adult we trust. There are adults in school who are specially trained to listen and help us. They can make sure we get the right support and that everyone feels safe. We know that looking out for each other, speaking up when we’re concerned, and knowing who to go to are all part of keeping our school community strong and caring.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
This morning, Cypress took part in the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’. Thank you to our parents and carers who were able to join us for a warm drink and cake at the Upper Site. The remaining cakes are being sold by the PTFA at the Stay and Play at the Lower Site this evening. If you were unable to attend and would like to make a direct contribution to our school fundraising page, please click on the link here.
Cypress Superstars
Well done to Isabelle, Ophelia and Leo in Violet Class who came to see Ms Binks with their fantastic writing based on the book ‘The Lonely Beast‘. They had made great use of adjectives and past tense verbs to make their writing exciting to read.Well dome to Marcel in Holly Class – your Victorian steam train model is an absolute triumph! Just like the great engineers of the era, you’ve shown wonderful creativity, care, and attention to detail. Well done also to Jacob in Cedar -you worked brilliantly with your mum to solve our maths problem. Not only did you find the solution, but you also gave a really thorough and thoughtful answer. Great teamwork (with Mum) and excellent mathematical thinking; we are very proud of you! Ameira in Larch Class came to show her portrait of me – your artistic skills are impressive! The portrait you created is not only beautifully drawn but also very flattering! I love it so much that it is now a permenant fixture on my wall! Henry and Jack in Birch Class wrote some sentences about dinosaurs using technical vocabulary. I very much enjoyed our chat about bipedal dinosaurs – thank you!
We wish all our children and families a lovely weekend.
