CYP LOWER – Fantastic Fruit in Little Cypress!

Fabulous Fruit!

What a fantastic week we have had in Little Cypress, learning all about different types of fruit. We read: ‘Oliver’s Fruit Salad’, where Oliver loved to talk about all the fruit he had seen in Grandpa’s garden, but didn’t want to taste any of them, when bought by him mum! Eventually, he did tuck in to the fruit salad he helped to make and really enjoyed it! We all made and tasted our own fruit salads which included pineapple, strawberries, watermelon, pears, plums, apples, oranges, bananas and grapes. We all did a brilliant job of chopping the fruit and even if we weren’t overly keen on the finished product, we mostly gave it a good taste test.

Father’s Day

We have been talking about our daddies and other important men in our lives. We made some super Father’s Day cards ahead of Sunday. We thought carefully about why we love our daddies and wrote our names carefully in the cards we had made for them – ties for Nursery and rockets for Rainbows. Lyra’s Dad modelled his tie really elegantly and we are hoping that the dads will be sporting their funky ties on Sunday!

Makaton Sign of the Week

This week we learned the sign for ‘carer’. It is quite a tricky sign to learn, so keep practising! Click here to see how to sign the word ‘carer’.

Following our own Interests

This week, the children have been interested in making their own collages and patterned drawings and writing in the writing area. It has been particularly pleasing to see children working collaboratively with their friends to create their masterpieces. The water trays have been popular in this warm weather, as well as sorting and classifying the maths equipment and puzzles. We created a wonderful bus in the Nursery playground, complete with bus conductor.  And we didn’t forget Seve – we very kindly gave him a good groom whilst he was resting and he seemed to enjoy the attention!

Rainbow Certificates

This week, the recipients were:

Freddie for persevering with cutting activities, with great results.

Woody for being an amazing helper at tidy-up time without being asked.

Bowie for both his cutting and tidying-up skills.

Bella and Elowen for working collaboratively with each other to produce amazing drawings and collages.

Luca for listening so beautifully at carpet time and always doing the right thing at Nursery.

A huge well done to all these children!

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
