CYPRESS: Happy New Year!

We are so glad to be back at school after the Christmas holiday. We hope that you have had a restful break and feel ready for the year ahead.

Look out for competitions/ awards that will begin again next week such as: Golden Lock (for sustainable travel at Upper School), Word of the Week – entry for all year groups, weekly Rainbow certificates awarded to children who exemplify a ‘Pegasus person’ or have developed their cognitive and metacognitive thinking skills (BLP) and the Gold Award – given at the end of the half term; this half term it will be awarded for being an ‘independent learner’.

Cypress Superstars

Although it has been a short week at school, fantastic things are happening that deserve special highlight every day! Well done to Neo, who has made a route and bus number changer that works just as a real one would! It has numbers for all Arriva routes in London. It was great to hear your specialised knowledge on bus routes. I definitely learned a thing or two! Great job, Neo. Well done to Ashtri, who had been working diligently to work out the perimeter of irregular shapes. She used clear reasoning to justify her answers too! Well done for working independently, Ashtri. Tom came to see me to read his fantastic diary entry written as Jemmy from the book ‘Jemmy Button’. He had used well-chosen vocabulary which created powerful imagery for me as a listener, when he read his diary extract aloud. Well done Tom!

Year 4 Swimming

Swimming begins for Y4 this half term. These are intensive sessions that will happen every afternoon for two weeks, for each class. Rowan class will begin swimming on Monday. If your child is in Rowan class, please ensure you send your child in with their swimming kit and a snack to eat after the session.

Have a great weekend – see you on Monday!
