Happy holidays from all at Ecclesbourne! We’ve had a very successful academic year at EPS and we are very proud of each and every child for their progress, efforts and achievements. This term has been particularly busy with a great number of trips, special events, sports days, assemblies and performances crammed in. Our recent We Love Reading Week, Enterprise Fair and the PTFA End of Year Picnic have been really enjoyable whole school events to mark the end of a fantastic year. Ecclesbourne offers so many great opportunities for our children and without our amazing staff team, this would not be possible.
Year 6
Our wonderful Year 6 children have now flown the nest and we are so proud of them as they embark on the next stage of their education. They’ve worked so hard and collectively have achieved an impressive set of KS2 SATs results with 75% of children combining in Reading, Writing and Maths (National data 62%). An Ecclesbourne education is about far more than academic results alone and this year group have excelled in sporting, performing and their attitudes to learning and behaviour. We’ve been treated to a fantastic performance of Bugsy Malone and their Year 6 Leavers’ assembly had just the right balance of emotion, humour and celebration. Well done Mars and Jupiter class – you have worked so hard and can leave Ecclesbourne feeling incredibly proud of your achievements. We wish you all the best and please pop back and visit us!

Sporting Success
Well done to our Football team for an amazing season. They are the Croydon Schools League Champions 2025-25 and we couldn’t be more proud! During assembly last week they were presented with a trophy which had prompted us to consider buying an official trophy cabinet for EPS! Our Netball team have also excelled this season reaching the league finals and were presented with medals in assembly. Team Ecclesbourne wowed at Croydon Sports this half term, with many children reaching the finals and our boys’ relay team winning a bronze medal.

Goodbyes
We are sad to be saying goodbye to some of our fantastic teachers. Ms McKenzie is leaving to spend more time with her daughter and embark on a career change, Mr Wocial is moving schools to take on a PE teacher role and Ms Tyghter is emigrating to New York to teach overseas. We wish them all the best in their exciting new chapters and do hope they stay in touch. We are also saying goodbye to some of our support staff: Ms Rhea, Ms Daley, Mr Davis and Mr Duggan, and wish them all the best in their future careers.
The lovely Mrs Rose is retiring after working at Ecclesbourne for 30 years! We would like to thank Mrs Rose for her many years of service and dedication to Ecclesbourne children and we particularly want to celebrate the outstanding contribution she has made to teaching and learning in art. The children have benefited greatly from her creativity and expertise and she has enriched the curriculum to include the study of wide-ranging materials, techniques and artists, the results of which are showcased throughout the school in a number of vibrant displays. We celebrated Mrs Rose in assembly last week and gave her a good ‘send off’! We wish her all the best as she enjoys a very well-earned retirement.

Thank you!
Huge thanks to every member of our staff team for their hard work and support at Ecclesbourne. The dedication and commitment of all staff has been evident throughout the year culminating in some excellent results in Key Stage 2 and another successful year. They have always worked with the children’s best interests at heart and this has led to some excellent progress and achievement. Staff at EPS go above and beyond with many attending wider school events, arriving early and working late. We appreciate all you do for our children.
A huge thank you to all parents and carers for their continued support. We are very proud of our school community and every individual family contributes to the success of Ecclesbourne children.
Finally, thank you to the wonderful children at EPS who make it a joy for us all to come into work each day! You’ve all worked so hard and we’re proud of each and every one of you.
I would like to wish everyone a restful and relaxing summer holiday and we look forward to seeing you return for the new academic year on Wednesday 3rd September.
