Celebrating Crystal Palace’s FA Cup Glory!
Little Cypress was a sea of blue and red in celebration of our local team’s historic win over Manchester City in the FA Cup Final this month! How wonderful to see our community come together in unison and to know and begin to understand that more things unite human beings than divides them. Many children wore their Crystal Palace football shirts, some wore blue and red as a nod to the colours of the Eagles and there was more than a smattering of princess dresses to balance things out!
Rainbow Certificates
A huge congratulations to our Rainbow Certificate winners this week.
In Nursery, the winners were Amelie, Aisha K and Neo and in Rainbows, Rayan and Jesse.
Daily Mile certificate winners were Kristina, Leon and Sofia.
Learning Journeys this week
As we reach the end of this penultimate half-term, we reflect on the incredible learning journeys the children have made over the academic year. The way the children are maturing and increasing in independence as the weeks pass is so heart-warming, as well as seeing how their empathy towards others is developing as they get older.
Busy Bees
The children have loved learning all about bees this week (Tuesday was World Bee Day) and were very knowledgeable about these crucial creatures.
Elowen knew that: “Bees collect nectar for honey!”
Amelie said: “Bees are so important, making honey!”
Haroon noted that: “They can sting you!” and Darcey was aware that: “They do a bee dance!”
We started the week by making our own honey sandwiches. We spread the butter ourselves on to wholemeal bread and then added some runny honey. Finally, we tasted our creations and the response was very favourable! We did yellow and black repeating patterns with various bee-themed shapes and Rainbows made some adorable bees from doilies.
Vegetable Soup
We practised developing our motor skills by cutting various vegetables, including potatoes, cabbage and rhubarb and the perseverance to cut through some quite hard ones was just incredible! We pretended to make a huge vegetable soup and the imagination and language that was witnessed and heard was very impressive.
We hope you all have a wonderful half-term break and we look forward to welcoming you back to school on Monday, 2nd June.
