On Thursday, Nursery Gold and Silver Classes had a wonderful trip to St John’s Church on Auckland Road. When we got there, Father John told us the story of the birth of Jesus using the incredible figures which included the donkey, a camel, the Three Wise Men, the shepherds, Mary, Joseph, Angel Gabriel and of course, Baby Jesus. Debbie even got to carry Baby Jesus in to the ‘stable’! We remembered many aspects of the story and Father John helped us to link the Nativity with why and how we celebrate Christmas today.
We loved seeing the huge Christmas tree, the beautiful stained glass windows (which included an image of St Nicholas who is also known as Father Christmas!), statues of Mary and Jesus and much, much more.
What a fabulous visit we had and it got everyone in to the Christmas spirit, as well as thinking of the real meaning of the festive season.
