Welcome Back!
It has been lovely to see the children come back to school so confidently for the second part of the Autumn Term. Although it has been a short week, it has been a very busy one with plenty going on! Our Rainbows and Nursery children have settled straight back in to life in Little Cypress and have been remembering our routines so well.
Playing and Learning
We have enjoyed exploring our classrooms, both inside and outside and have particularly loved playing with the Autumn-themed loose parts. It has been so interesting watching the children use these resources so purposefully, creating patterns and using their fine motor skills with such dexterity.
Fireworks!
Many of the children have been telling us all about the fireworks they have seen over half-term and this week, for both Diwali (the Hindu Festival of Lights) and Bonfire Night (November 5th). We created our own firework pictures by squeezing different coloured paint on to circles of paper in a salad spinner. We then used our strength to move the handle of the spinner to spin the basket inside as fast as we could. This movement made the paint ‘explode’ like fireworks and the finished pictures looked fabulous, especially with the addition of some sparkly glitter!
Makaton Sign of the Week
This week’s sign is very relevant for Bonfire Night – it’s ‘fire’ or ‘blaze’. Click here to see how to sign the word ‘fire/blaze’.
We have also had a lovely time looking after our school dog, Seve, and giving him lots of cuddles!
We hope you all had a wonderful weekend and look forward to another week of fun and learning.
