ATW EYFS News – Burglaries and bees

In Reception this week, we have started our new topic “To the rescue!”  After the Terrible Beast invasion from last term, there was another intruder in the Reception classes this time stealing our class reading buddies.  They made an awful mess and the police came in to cordon off the area. The children were quick to become detectives searching for clues to work out what had happened and who had committed the crime.  Luckily, there was a witness who sent us a letter describing the thief.  The children created wanted posters which helped capture the burglar and the missing reading buddies were returned to their rightful places.  Well done Reception for solving the mystery.

In Nursery this week, we have been reading the book ‘Willbee the Bumblebee”.  We felt very sad for Willbee when his jersey unravelled and had a discussion about what we could do to make him feel better.  Next week, we are continuing with Willbee and will be making him a new jersey using some threading techniques.

We have had fun learning about bees and the pollination process. This encouraged us to make bee handprints and plant our very own seeds to help the bees. We are really excited to watch them grow!
