Cypress Primary – A message from our MACs

Dear Cypress community,
We hope that you have managed to stay safe in this heat.  We know staff and the children have worked hard to stay cool whilst enjoying the last few days of term.
Members of the Academy Council (MACs) met last week to get our final update of the academic year.  We are really proud of the successes at Cypress.  We wish to thank staff for their endless commitment and perseverance in what has been a challenging last few years.
We have also heard how well the children have shown resilience and continued to be kind to each other and how they have engaged so well with their learning, despite the challenges.  As a result many of our children are making positive progress academically and socially.
We noticed in our meeting that along with positive progress of the children they have still accessed a broad curriculum and a range of trips.  Attendance in general is also positive. These are all indicators that children enjoy and feel safe at school.
Thank you to the parents that responded to the parent survey which was also full of positive comments.  In response to the survey MACS will be aiming to be more present in school so you can get a better understanding of our role.
Sadly, Beverley Nutter will be stepping down, as she will be moving out of the area.  We would like to thank her for her contribution over the years, she shall be greatly missed.  This means we will be recruiting for a new parent MAC, please look out for letters in the autumn term.
We also say goodbye to year 6, who have made us extremely proud with all of their hard work over the years.  We wish them all the best for secondary school.
Finally, we hope that you all have a very happy and safe summer and we look forward to seeing  you in the autumn term.
Best wishes,
Marsha Douglas
Chair of Cypress MACS
