This week we have been learning about Autumn at the Lower School. In assembly, we talked about the changes we see in Autumn. This included the length of the day, animals hibernating and storing food and harvest. We then shared the story of ‘The Little Red Hen‘ and the children enjoyed hearing about the lazy animals who would not help the hen make her bread. At the Upper School, we have been continuing our theme of perseverance, linked to our Black History Month learning. We have been inspired by the determination and achievements of Valerie Bloom, the writer, and Sabrina Chapman, the climber, exploring how perseverance helps us overcome challenges and reach our goals. As part of our celebrations, we held a Black History Month Sharing Assembly, where each year group shared what they had learned and distilled important messages about perseverance, identity, and inspiration. A huge thank you to Ms Prideaux and Mrs Corbet for their hard work and creativity in bringing this learning to life. The children’s work will be displayed around the school for everyone to enjoy.

Cypress Superstars
Well done to Josephine in Violet Class who cam to show her amazing maths using tens and ones. She had completed all the fluency and gone on to complete to the reasoning and problem solving. What a star! Congratulations to Alexandra, Hugo, Rita and Wren in Violet Class who came to share their writing based on ‘The Bear and Piano’. They had used some fantastic adjectives in their writing that made it very interesting to read. We are really proud of you all. Elsie in Turquoise Class also came to see us with her wonderful writing. We were so impressed with her sentence structure and adjectives. We have an author of the future on our hands.
Well done to Winnie for adding two-digit numbers confidently and showing great procedural fluency. Impressive work! Congratulations also to Ida, Ted, Daphne, Alana, Widad, Eli and Barney for creating very imaginative collages using leaf rubbings. Such wonderful creativity on display! I had some very passionate suffragettes visit my office this week. Please take a moment to hear their rallying cries for female suffrage and the right to vote. Well done to Ilyas, Owen, Lacey, Hazel and Emilia for their passionate and persuasive speeches, full of strong arguments and excellent historical content. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and understanding of this important part of history.
