As we approach the last week before the summer holidays, we have had another busy and successful time at Cypress with lots of trips and events taking place.
Turquoise Class visit Morden Hall
On Tuesday, Turquoise Class visited Morden Hall Park to support their learning about habitats. The children took part in river dipping and meadow sweeping. Turquoise Class enjoyed learning about invertebrates and found damsel flies, caddis fly larvae and lots of crickets. What a fantastic day of learning! Thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to help on the day.
Yellow Class visit Capel Manor Farm
On Thursday, Yellow Class visited Capel Manor Farm. They had a fantastic time seeing all the animals and spent some time on the adventure playground as a reward at the end of the day. What a lovely way to end their time in Reception. Thank you to the parents and carers who gave up their time to help on the day. You were a great support.
Year 6 Production
This week, we were absolutely wowed by Year 6 and their end-of-year performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The hall was beautifully decorated with flowers and streamers, perfectly capturing the magical midsummer setting. Every child took part, coming together to create a performance truly worthy of any stage. A huge well done to all the children involved, the actors were incredible, singing beautifully and delivering their lines with real passion. The woodland trees and toadstools moved enchantingly as the story unfolded, adding an extra layer of magic to the show. There was so much to enjoy and appreciate.
Special thanks must go to Ms Wayman, who directed the play, and the entire Year 6 teaching and support team, who worked tirelessly on the costumes. An extra big thank you to Ms Sneedden, who spent many evenings at her sewing machine, and to Ms Simadree, who also supported with the costumes. We’d also like to thank our talented Year 6 crocheters, who created the wonderful toadstool crochet hats – such a fantastic touch. Thank you also to the PTFA for providing much-needed refreshments during the interval of our evening performance. We truly appreciate your support.
Well done, Year 6 – we are all incredibly proud of you!
Pictures of from the show will be available to parents on Google Drive. Watch this space for further details.
Year 2 Leavers’ Assembly
On Thursday afternoon, Year 2 had their leavers’ assembly in preparation for their move to the Upper School in September. It was very emotional and lovely to have so many parents and carers join us to celebrate their time at Cypress Lower. We all enjoyed seeing the children dressed in their outfits showing what they would like to be when they grow up. The children performed and sang so beautifully. It has been wonderful seeing the progress these children have made, both academically and personally, during their time at Cypress Lower. We wish them continued success as they move on to Year 3.
Cypress Superstars
Well done to Lula in Indigo Class who has made the most amazing model of a lion as part of her thematic homework. Lula has worked on her model for a number of weeks. Not only is it nearly life size; it also roars. We are so proud of you! This week, Poppy, Aisha, Willa and Nyla came to see me after achieving fantastic swimming milestones. They were awarded certificates and medals for their progress- it’s wonderful to see children gaining proficiency in such an important life skill. Well done, girls! Fiffy has been busy acting and received an award from her drama club for taking part in a show. Well done, Fiffy ,what a great achievement! Aiyla has created another inspirational poster, encouraging us all to follow the rules while still having fun at school. A very important message, beautifully shared! Phoebe and Lenka have also been busy raising money for the school. They baked fairy cakes and cookies, sold them after school, and raised an amazing £30! They will be helping us decide how to spend the money you’ve shown fantastic enterprise. Thank you both so much!
Well done to all our Cypress superstars!
We wish all our children and families a lovely weekend.
