CYP – Here comes the sun!

It has been a very sunny week at Cypress and the children have been loving being outdoors. The children at the Lower School had a wonderful lunchtime on Wednesday as Seve joined them to play on the field.  They had great fun playing fetch with him. Seve was exhausted by the end! The Upper School have been enjoying the garden and the equipment now the soggy field has dried out!

This week is ‘Deaf Awareness Week’ and at the Lower School we have been learning about what it means to have hearing loss and what we can do to help communicate. Ms Nardozza led an assembly all about this and the children really enjoyed learning some sign language.  We have been really showing ‘We Care’ and can show empathy to others. The Upper School enjoyed an amazing assembly from Holly Class, who gave us a jam-packed round up of their learning so far this year! They really have been busy! They rounded off their assembly with ‘We are Family’ by Sister Sledge, highlighting how much they have enjoyed learning and supporting each other throughout the year. Well done Holly Class! A big thank you to Miss Fernandes and Mr Nicol who worked hard to help Holly deliver their assembly this morning.

Cypress Superstars

Matipa in Ruby Class came to the office with a beautiful painting of the beach and sea.  She had used colour effectively to show the moon and the reflection of the night sky in her work.  It is going to look beautiful on the cover of her thematic book. In Turquoise Class, Bethany, Harper, Heidi, Lucas and Abdur came to visit with some fantastic writing. They had written some superb stories based on their class text ‘Iron Man’.  We were very impressed with their creativity and use of language. Well done to Emerson in Hazel who created a leaflet for other children explaining the dangers of social media and using mobile devices for prolonged amounts of time.  It was both informative and interesting! We have some talented writers in Hawthorn Class – I thoroughly enjoyed reading Emilia, Tom, Cayla,  Loresa, Hamza and Tolibat’s work, explaining how bees make honey. They had added humour for interest and had used hexagonal shapes to mimic honeycomb to organise their explanations – how creative!

Iron Man Arrives

As part of their learning in English, Year 2 have been studying the book ‘The Iron Man’.  Year 2 invited Ms Binks to visit this morning and she was amazed to see what they had created.  The classes had worked collaboratively to create their own model of ‘The Iron Man’.  What an achievement!

Year 6

We are wishing our Year 6s best wishes for their end of Key Stage tests. They have worked exceptionally hard! We are looking forward to seeing them on Monday for breakfast at 8:30am in the hall.

Have a wonderful weekend.
