Reading Tree Assembly at Cypress Lower

On Monday, we had our Reading Tree assembly celebrating those children who read regularly and have been trying hard with their reading in class. Well done to Turquoise Class  and Indigo Class who won a pyjama afternoon for having the most regular readers.  All our regular readers earnt a special ‘ Reading Tree Bookmark’ which has a QR code linking it to a special Christmas story read by Ms Cheeseman.  Well done to the children in Year 1 and 2 who received a book for the effort you have made with your reading in class.  We are proud of you all!

Year 5 Nativity

The Year 5 Nativity, Bethlehem B&B, was a truly magical evening. The children worked tirelessly, delivering a performance filled with beautiful singing, confident acting, seamless line delivery, and wonderfully creative expression. A professional atmosphere was created throughout the performance, with the focus firmly on the children, allowing them to shine. I am incredibly proud of both the pupils and the staff for their hard work and dedication. A huge thank you to the Year 5 team for ensuring the production ran so smoothly, to Ms Barker for her invaluable support with singing and to Miss Wayman for her fantastic dancing and singing support. It was a great job all round and a performance to remember. Well done, Year 5!

Year 1 and 2 Christmas Singing

Well done to our Year 1 and 2 children who have performed songs and poems brilliantly in their Christmas concerts for their parents and carers.  The children sang beautifully and performed their poems with great prosody.  They worked really well as a team.  Thank you to our Year 1 and 2 teams for your hard work supporting the children.  Thank you also to all the parents and carers who attended and were such a supportive audience for the children.

PTFA Winter Fair

Thank to all our PTFA volunteers for organising and running such a fantastic Winter Fair. It was great to see so many of the Cypress community in attendance.  Well done to all the children who entered the winter shoe box competition.  Our winners were Quinn in Birch Class and Ophelia in Violet Class.

Cypress Superstars

I saw the wonderful Jessie this week, who came to share her Christmas poem.  It was so good, I thought I’d share it here. Please click the link below.

Folarin, Mac and Arabella did a wonderful job sewing stockings using running and blanket stitch. They carefully sewed on buttons and sequins to create beautifully decorated stockings for the tree. Their work showed great care, creativity, and attention to detail – make sure you put them on your tree! David in Cedar worked independently in maths, showing great focus and confidence in his learning. Jacob also in Cedar completed his early morning maths work with excellent concentration. We are very proud of you both! Maddie, Eddie, Maddie and Bertie all did an amazing job at their taekwondo tournament outside of school, where they performed brilliantly and received their medals for their efforts. What a very talented trio; well done! Meanwhile, Isaac in Cedar has been working creatively with papier-mâché to make a lizard. He showed great attention to detail, especially in the varying tones of green used for the skin, which really brought his work to life. Great work, Isaac! Gracie in Holly has made a beautfiul salt dough Christmas decoration of a Christmas tree and proudly came to show me. Well done, Gracie! Leo, Caleb, Alex, Oskar, Olivia, Mina, Amar, Israel, Musa and Zhimran in Sycamore came to share their natural decorations for the tree – ‘stick Santas’; very creative, boys!
