In Reception, the children have had a great deal of fun sharing information about themselves and their families. Using the story ‘So Much’ by Trish Cooke, they have talked about their own families and learned that while each person’s family might look different, each is filled with so much love. The children created drawings of the people who live with them, leading to discussions about the people they love. They even practised using their newly acquired phonics skills to label their drawings.
In mathematics, they have learned about the composition of the numbers 2, 3 and 4. They started the week by finding pairs of things on their bodies, such as their two eyes, feet, hands, etc. They had lots of fun making three for the three bears as they had their picnic.
The children have been exploring the outdoor area and demonstrating their physical skills. PE was introduced this week. The children learned how to use the space safely while following the instructions of the lesson. They enjoyed playing movement games where they moved around the space in different ways, such as moving as a giant, moving quietly, climbing etc. The children started doing the Daily Mile and they loved the challenge of running around the field.
