Literacy:
This week, we have continued reading the story ‘Who Sank the Boat?’ by Pamela Allen. We started the week by recapping our story and the characters involved in sinking the boat. Following this, the class joined in by performing the story, either acting as a character or joining in with the repeated refrain “Do you know who sunk the boat?”. Throughout the week, we have been to the library to look at non-fiction books about boats, sea and water, discussing what makes the book non-fiction.
Maths:
Our maths carpet sessions this week have seen us look at time language and in particular, ‘first’, ‘next’ and ‘then’. By showing a sequence of photographs and using the language, the children were confident enough to explain particular scenarios. This included the growth of our flowers in our outdoor provision, looking back at old pictures of themselves when they started nursery and steps to make playdough.
Enhanced provision:
It has been our last week in Forest School and the children had time to freely explore all on offer, from climbing the low tree branches, making muddy puddles, concocting hot chocolates from the mud kitchen and bug hunting. When asked ‘what do you enjoy about Forest School?’ the responses were: ‘playing hide and seek’, ‘digging for worms’, ‘making puddles with the water’, and ‘using the swing’.
Child’s voice:
‘This week I have enjoyed’…
