The children in the Gold Class had a lovely time visiting the park and enjoying outdoor learning. As they walked to the local park, Grangewood Park, they thought about keeping safe on the roads. Everyone remembered to ‘Stop, Look and Listen’ before crossing the road safely, following Ms. Montoya’s instructions. The children impressed all of the adults by walking all of the way without complaining. When they went up the hill, the children marched like the soldiers of ‘The Grand Old Duke of York.’ Once in the park, they were all amazed by the size of the trees. Some of the comments that the children made included: “They are so big!” “Ms Montoya, they go all the way up!”, “The trees are very, very tall!”. Once the camp was set up, the children were challenged to look for a range of plants in the environment by matching them to pictures. Next, the children extended their recent learning about 2D shapes by creating their very own 2D shapes using sticks that we had collected on our way. After all that walking, we washed our hands and sat down to enjoy a lovely snack and drink. Finally, as a special reward, we played Hide and Seek!
The children would like to say a big thank you to all of our parent volunteers who gave up their time to help make this trip possible!
