World Wellbeing Week took place from June 23rd to June 27th. The focus of this year’s World Wellbeing Week is promoting healthy habits. The habit we chose to focus on in school is the power of positive thinking. We learned about the negativity effect and how we can use positive affirmations to balance our perspectives and reduce the impact of negative thoughts. Staff and children thought about what they were proud of about themselves, and used this to create personalised ‘I am…’ statements. These were encouraged to be repeated regularly to increase feelings of self-worth and happiness.
There was a school-wide competition to create a poster promoting our children’s amazing ability to do anything if they put their minds to it. We were blown away by the quality of the posters entered. Mr. Robins had a hard time selecting the top three winners from each key stage, but after much deliberation, the winners are:
Key Stage 1:
1st – Anushka from Green class
2nd -Theo from Blue class
3rd – Joshua from Orange class
Lower Key Stage 2
1st – Sienna from Ruby
2nd -Isabelle from Amber class
3rd – Alice from Jade class
Upper Key Stage 2
1st – Grace from Lavender
2nd – Matilda from Lavender
3rd – Neave from Teal class
Certificates were handed out in today’s Celebration Assembly, along with a small prize to the children who came in first place. Their posters are displayed around the school to reinforce the idea that our children here at Atwood are capable of anything to which they put their minds.
