Year 6 Brings Carnival to Life for Black History Month!
Last Friday, the corridors of our school pulsed with rhythm, colour, and joy as Year 6 hosted a spectacular Carnival celebration in honour of Black History Month. This wasn’t just a party — it was the grand finale of a powerful learning journey exploring the history of Carnival and the vibrant cultures that shine at Notting Hill Carnival.
Throughout the term, pupils have immersed themselves in the sights, sounds, and stories of Carnival — discovering how music, fashion, and food reflect the rich heritage of Caribbean and African communities.
The celebration included:
- Pupils strutting the runway in a dazzling fashion show, showcasing bold prints, traditional styles, and modern flair.
- Sampling of delicious dishes from across the diaspora — from jerk chicken to plantain and beyond.
- Music and dance brought the school hall to life, echoing the spirit of Carnival with every beat.
This unforgettable day was more than just fun — it was a living tribute to the creativity, resilience, and brilliance of Black culture. Year 6 didn’t just learn about history — they became part of it.
