WHINF – Book Week Fun

It’s been a busy Book Week here at Whitehorse Infants, kicking off the week with dressing up as our favourite book characters. In assembly we announced the winners of our ‘Book in a Box’ competition. Many children across the school had been busily turning a shoe box into their favourite book. It was wonderful to see so many entries. 5 lucky winners were chosen and awarded with a voucher to spend at the Scholastic Book Fair which visits Whitehorse next week. Yesterday we were visited by the author Eva Wong Nava, who shared 2 of her books with us ‘I Love Chinese New Year’ and ‘Busy Little Fingers Art’. Children in Early Years learned all about Chinese New Year, whilst children in Key Stage 1 learned about what it means to be an art historian. She kindly signed copies of her book for us all to share in our classrooms. Finally, classes have been busy creating book doors to celebrate our love of reading. A favourite author among many of our children is Julia Donaldson. We had great fun turning our classroom doors into displays of her stories. How many do you recognise?
