It was so lovely to see all the children return from the Christmas break, eager and ready to learn. We started the week recapping our phonics journey so far and introduced the new sound ‘m.’ The children have been busy finding things around the nursery that start with that sound and adding them to our phonics box, unfortunately Mrs Moore would not fit in there! We have also started our new topic of traditional tales, beginning with the story ‘The Gingerbread Man.’ The children turned into detectives on Tuesday when they arrived at nursery and found some floury footprints and had to guess who could have made them, there were some interesting suggestions such as Santa and Miss Roberts! After we read the story book, they used their investigative skills to work out it was The Gingerbread Man! We have transformed our role play area into a castle and the children have been enjoying their royal feasts whilst pretending to be kings and queens!
In maths we have been exploring positional language and have been placing the Gingerbread Man in , on, behind and in front of objects.
