ATW- Support for trauma

Atwood’s Parents Association have kindly supported us in purchasing some new books story books which will support any children or families who have, or are, experiencing trauma in their lives.  Trauma can be experienced for many different reasons.  These books are designed to support when children have strong emotions or physical reactions to any event that has occurred.

These books cover a range of topics and strategies which are all delivered in a child friendly way through the use of stories and pictures. Each book covers a range of emotions which may be experienced during or after traumatic events and delivers ideas on how to cope with these feelings, how to express them and where we can turn to get the support we need.

Should parents wish to borrow one of these books from our parent library for support at home, please contact Mrs Townsend via the school office.

A Terrible Thing Happened by Margaret M Holmes

Sherman Smith saw the most terrible thing happen. At first he tried to forget about it, but something inside him started to bother him. He felt nervous and had bad dreams. Then he met someone who helped him talk about the terrible thing, and made him feel better.
