This week we have used The Rainbow fish to teach our Reception classes about sharing and kindness. The children loved the bright, colourful illustrations and enjoyed listening to the story. We discussed how the Rainbow Fish learned that sharing makes everyone happier. The children then took art in activities such as making their own paper plate rainbow fish and making their own under the sea pictures. These activities helped them to understand friendship, sharing and caring for others.
In Maths this week we have been learning to subitise numbers up to 4. Subitising means recognising how many objects are in a small group without counting them. The children have enjoyed exploring patterns with dice, counters, and everyday items, quickly identifying numbers and discussing different ways to make them (for example, 3 and 1 make 4). This helps to build strong early number sense and confidence in recognising numbers.
