CYP LOWER – Little Cypress: Cress sandwiches & Cress Mountain Dinosaur Land!

Cress Sandwiches

Our cress mountain grew so quickly last week and when we came back to school on Monday, we had a veritable jungle on our hands! The cat grass had sprouted up much taller than all of the mustard and cress and is much straighter too! We made mustard, cress and cream cheese sandwiches and the staff were all really impressed with how well the children spread the butter and cream cheese. Even the most reluctant children had a taste of the sandwiches and many devoured the whole thing and asked for more!

Sam said: “I liked the sandwich because I’ve tried cress before and it was a bit spicy!”

Ruben remembered: “It was spicy!”

Dinosaur World

Once we had finished the sandwich making, we used the tuff tray of remaining mustard, cress and cat grass as the base for our dinosaur world. Many of us had an amazing time using our imaginations to pretend to be the various dinosaurs and impressed the adults with their knowledge of the dinosaur names.

Broad Beanstalks!

Our broad beans also sprouted over the weekend and we got to take them home today. We are going to be watching them closely for growth and are wondering whether we will have our very own beanstalks growing in our homes!

Easter Fun

Our week also involved making chocolate egg nests and Easter cards using transient art. We have been such busy bees this week and everyone is now ready for the Easter holidays. Wishing you all a very peaceful and relaxing break and see you after the holidays for the summer term.
