ATW Nursery News – 19th December

This week in Nursery, we have been reading the Nativity story. We learnt about why this time of year is so special to Christians (birth of baby Jesus). The children shared some of their favourite parts of Christmas and some things mentioned were: making cookies, roast dinners, lots of presents, leaving snacks for Santa and meeting Santa. We also reminded ourselves of other celebrations, like Diwali, and spoke about what is similar between the two (decorating the house, putting out lights, spending time with family).

Our sound of the week is “n”, the children were able to find many things with this sound (net, nest, napkin, numbers, North Pole!).

Miss Goodey found an old nest in the garden and the children were fascinated by it. We remembered back to when we read the story Owl Babies and spoke about what we needed to make nests. It was amazing to have a really close look at how the bird had woven all the materials together and even see some real eggs in there!

On Thursday, we were invited to the school panto of Jack and the Beanstalk. The giant was a bit scary but thank goodness Jack and the Fairy saved the day! Today the children have enjoyed celebrating Christmas at our nursery Christmas party. We have played lots of games, danced at our mini disco and eaten lots and lots of food!

Have a lovely break everyone and we will see you in the new year!
