CYP Lower – Sunshine and Showers in Little Cypress

Rainy days

We have had rather a soggy week in Little Cypress with lots of rain and grey skies. In between, however, we have seen glimpses of Spring with the sun peeping through and the Spring flowers, such as daffodils, are starting to appear and the days are getting longer at last. We have enjoyed splashing in the puddles and making the most of the sun when it came out!

Makaton Sign of the Week

As usual, we have learned a new Makaton sign this week. It is a very cheerful one this week and the sign is to smile. Click here to see how to sign the word to smile.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

This week we have been focusing on the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We have listened to and joined in with lots of different versions of the story and tried to think about things that are the same and things that are different in each story. We have been amazing at joining in the repeated refrains of the story and using different voices to signify the different bears.

We have also been practising our fine motor skills by cutting out shapes from the Goldilocks story. We are getting really good at using scissors and cutting accurately around the lines and shapes.

We have explored the Goldilocks story through puppets, different sized bears and tuff trays with porridge and different sized bowls and spoons with which we re-told aspects of the story. Lots of teddy and bear themed puzzles have been tackled and successfully completed this week!

We are thinking about taking turns and learning to wait for things – something that is very difficult at this age!

Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to the fun of Book Week next week!
