CYP Lower – Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!  We have had such a busy term, topped off with some amazing festivities this week including our Christmas dinner on Thursday prepared by Mark and our wonderful catering team from Harrisons.

On Monday the children were treated to the staff pantomime where we told the fairytale of Cinderella – Oh no they weren’t!  They’ve been talking about it non stop this week, so it’s clearly been a highlight of the Christmas calendar this year.  Year 2 children amazed us with their beautiful singing performance on Tuesday afternoon complete with dancing.  On Wednesday afternoon Reception performed their fantastic Nativity for the final time, to rave reviews from Parents and Carers.  Children from Nursery and Rainbows also performed this week in Little Cypress and we all particularly loved their visit to the Baker’s to get some scrummy mince pies!  We’d like to thank our school community for their generous donations to our chosen charity as we’ve raised over £150 for the ‘The Lily Pad Appeal’, fundraising for a new children’s oncology unit at Croydon University Hospital.

We held our Reading Tree celebration assembly on Monday and children who have been recording reading regularly in their diaries were awarded a collectable bookmark with a QR code linking to a special story read by Mrs Sorensen.  These children were also entered into a raffle and winning names were drawn from each class for brand new books!  Keep reading over the holidays everyone!

Our Gold Award theme this half term is positive behaviour.  This morning during assembly we celebrated two children from each class to receive a very prestigious Gold Award, sharing the reasons why their teacher had chosen them.  Their photos will be added to our display in the hall.  Congratulations to the following children!

Red class – Malaika and Alfie Orange class – Jocelyn and Troy Yellow class – Raees and Luna
Blue class – Daniel and Daphne Indigo class – Suwaiba and Dylan Green class – Basil and Mehnaz
Violet class – Ignas and Nia Ruby class – Jahvani and Hazel Turquoise class – Mollie and Otis

Our wonderful PTFA have been very busy over the last few weeks and have raised a whopping £2794 following the Winter Fair!  We’ve also had the ever popular discos across both sites which have raised over £1,000.  Thank you for their hard work and dedication to fundraising for our Cypress children and to all the volunteers who have helped with the events.

The term dates for next academic year 2022/23 have now been published and you can find them here.

We look forward to welcoming our children safely back to school on Wednesday 5th January 2022.  We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
